The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. The NCSHP has more than 1,600 troopers who cover nearly 80,000 miles of North Carolina roadways, more than any other state except Texas. Description of Work
This position provides administrative support to the Lieutenant in the overall operation of a District Office. The Administrative Specialist I performs a wide range of clerical, administrative, and customer service functions that support daily district operations and contribute to the agency's mission. Responsibilities include managing office communications, maintaining records and reports, coordinating administrative processes, supporting sworn personnel, and serving as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

- Prepare, edit, and distribute memorandums, business correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, forms, charts, and other official documents using standard office software applications.
- Manage office communications by answering and directing telephone calls, monitoring email correspondence, responding to inquiries, and distributing information to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain and update electronic and physical filing systems, records, databases, and correspondence in accordance with established agency procedures and records retention requirements.
- Participate in special projects, committees, training programs, and other assignments as directed while promoting a professional work environment that supports the agency's mission and organizational goals.

Veteran’s and National Guard Preference
Applicants seeking Veteran’s Preference must attach a DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, along with the state application.
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS), along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
