The Role

Our Opportunity:

We are looking for a Software Engineer II at our facility in Bellevue, Washington to develop MLOps (Machine Learning Operations) Platform code in Python and Java programming languages, implement CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery) jobs in Jenkins and Github Actions, and gain in-depth knowledge of several Chewy business processes and systems environment.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Act in the capacity of a software engineer to actively participate in the definition, design, development, testing and implementation of software functionality using the Agile methodology.
  • Create or modify complex programs, modules, routines, scripts and data objects from a detailed design where efficiency, performance and reliability are critical.
  • Work with and advise both business and technology teams (internal and external) on how best to implement desired features and enhancements.
  • Ensure that technical solutions follow best practices, are reliable, are easily maintainable and are scalable under sustained load. Participate in design and code reviews.
  • Collaborate to identify, isolate and resolve malfunctions related to software.
  • Conduct knowledge transition on solutions to the designated application support team(s).
  • Create and evolve application documentation as required.
  • Operate in compliance with IT standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • 20% domestic travel required.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and 5 years of experience
  • Alternatively, a Master’s degree and 3 years of experience
  • Experience must include 3 years in the following: full software development lifecycle experience, including independent analysis;
  • Developing applications in web technologies, including Java 8, Spring Boot, and AWS Technologies/Cloud Migration; and
  • Working web server technologies.
  • Experience must also include the following: Java Script, Terraform, Agile/Scrum, open source technologies, responsive application design, or continuous integration using Jenkins;
  • Service Oriented Architecture;
  • Working in e-commerce;
  • Java;
  • AWS (Amazon web services) and Terraform;
  • Software Design and architecture;
  • Reviewing peers’ software code;
  • Developing automated jobs in Jenkins;
  • Writing automated Unit/Integration and System test cases;
  • SQL;
  • Debugging software service failures;
  • Developing RESTful web services; and
  • Generating and modifying application code in YML and JSON.
  • 20% domestic travel required.
  • The position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Compensation & Benefits:

Our salary range for a Software Engineer II position is $155,865 - $183,500. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
