Manages clinical quality and service orientation as measured by patient and/or customer service outcomes.

  • Effectively markets unit job openings to attract highly skilled staff members to the unit or to Project Teams.

  • Holds self and others accountable for meeting unit objectives and commitments.
  • Adheres to standards even in the face of unforeseen circumstances.

  • Assists director with development of unit budget both operational and capital.
  • Monitors supply and complies with programs in place that capture charges and usage.
  • Provides input and justification/rationale for budget variances in a timely fashion.

  • Uses techniques that appeal to reason, values or emotions to generate enthusiasm for work, commitment to tasks, and compliance with requests.

Develops and retains talent.

  • Completes and/or delegates and reviews personnel performance evaluation and competency assessment.
  • Provides consistent feedback to individuals and team throughout the performance year

  •  Provides preliminary review of unit specific quality related variances; keeps director and risk management/quality informed of patient harm related variances in a timely manner.
  • Identifies and implements effective and innovative solutions.

  • Guides team in the process of developing unit level activities to support organizational vision, mission, and values

Demonstrates initiative

  • Is a self-starter; takes mitigated risk in order to initiate necessary change

Education, License, and/or Experience.

  • Current RN license in the State of Texas.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • BSN or BS required.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • 5 years pre- and/or post-op experience preferred.
  • 5 years progressive nursing leadership (charge, team lead, coordinator, manager) or related experience in area of expertise preferred.

Certificates and/or Registrations.

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) continuously maintained. May onboard with AHA or Red Cross CPR and then transition to AHA upon first renewal.
  • PALS certified
  • ACLS certified
  • American Society of Peri anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) national certification required or within six months of hire date.
