Education
- Bachelor's degree and completion of perfusion training program
Certification Summary
- American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion Certification or completion within one year of eligibility
- Current or provisional Georgia Composite State Board of Medical Examiners Clinical Perfusionist license
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Job Responsibilities
- Safely performs and manages duties of a staff perfusionist upon prescription by a physician and in accordance with hospital policy.
- Extracorporeal circulation/cardiopulmonary support.
- Ventricular Assist Devices: Implant, explant, device parameters.
- Blood conservation techniques/autotransfusion/autologous hemofiltration.
- Myocardial preservation.
- Administration of medications, blood components, and anesthetic agents via the extracorporeal circuit.
- Anticoagulation, physiologic parameters, blood gas and chemistry values, perfusion protocols or emergency procedures based on observed abnormalities or equipment failures.
- Performs documentation associated with described duties.
- Achieves 75% attendance at staff meetings if applicable.
- Supports Joint Commission readiness.
