Overview

FMI's Training Institute Performance programs team is seeking an experienced Performance Senior Training Facilitator to lead delivery of our experiential learning programs — the Project Manager Academy (PMA), Construction Business Academy (CBA), and Performance Trainings. This role is for a seasoned, credible facilitator who combines deep built-environment industry expertise with the ability to read the room, adapt to different client and organizational environments, and translate real construction-industry challenges into practical, high-impact learning experiences. You'll serve as a trusted partner to clients and a mentor to developing facilitators, bringing credibility, flexibility, and sound judgment to every engagement.

For more than 70 years, FMI has partnered with organizations across the built environment to develop exceptional leaders and build stronger, more profitable businesses. This role requires genuine industry fluency — not just familiarity — to credibly facilitate content and earn trust with construction executives and field leaders.

This is a full-time position based in either our Raleigh, NC or Denver, CO office. Travel is approximately 60–80% (varies by home office location and program calendar), with increased travel in the initial months to enable deep immersion in FMI's programs, clients, and team.

**Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. FMI is unable to provide visa sponsorship at this time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary facilitator across FMI's Training Institute Performance offerings (PMA, CBA, Performance Trainings, and future offerings), personally delivering high-quality, industry-relevant content to construction and built-environment audiences.
  • Bring deep, credible built-environment industry experience to program design and delivery, translating real construction-industry challenges into practical, applicable learning experiences for participants.
  • Adapt delivery in real time based on participant engagement, organizational dynamics, and client objectives to create meaningful learning experiences.
  • Continuously evolve program content and delivery methods based on participant feedback, facilitation observation, and ongoing industry engagement.
  • Mentor and develop Performance Training Facilitators and subcontractors through co-facilitation, coaching, modeling, and constructive feedback.
  • Build trusted relationships with participants and client stakeholders, delivering an exceptional client experience before, during, and after each engagement.
  • Partner with internal teams to prepare for successful engagements, including session planning, content refinement, and development of client-ready materials.
  • Contribute market and content insights to business development and marketing efforts by building credibility with prospective clients through facilitation and demonstrated industry expertise.
  • Collaborate with Program Operations Managers, Coordinators, and internal partners to continuously improve program quality and participant outcomes.
  • Identify and help implement improvements to content design, delivery methods, and overall program impact.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in the built environment, including construction or closely related industries, required. This role requires the credibility and fluency to facilitate directly in front of construction executives and field leaders.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience facilitating, teaching, or coaching executive or professional audiences required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, education, or a related field preferred; advanced degree or facilitation/instructional design certification a plus.
  • Proven track record of designing, delivering, and continuously improving programs or learning experiences for professional audiences.
  • Experience coaching or developing other facilitators or instructors preferred.
  • Strong consultative skills with the ability to quickly build credibility and adapt to unique client environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, manage group dynamics, and facilitate difficult conversations with confidence.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Salesforce, NetSuite, and Cvent.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (60–80%).
  • Ability to lift program materials (50–100 lbs.) with support.

  • $120K base salary plus annual bonus opportunity as aligned with FMI's compensation structure
