Flow Traders is looking for a Performance Engineer to join our Digital Assets Tech Ops team in our Amsterdam office. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that ensures the speed, reliability, and efficiency of our digital assets trading systems. As a Performance Engineer, you will be responsible for analysing, optimising, and fine-tuning our infrastructure to reduce latency and enhance trading performance. You will work closely with traders, developers, operations and infrastructure engineers to uncover performance improvements and drive innovation in a highly competitive environment.
What you will do
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across our low-latency trading infrastructure
- Investigate and enhance the efficiency of our connectivity and interactions with digital asset exchanges
- Use black-box analysis, statistical testing, and empirical research to understand and improve system behaviours
- Analyse large-scale system and network data to detect patterns, validate hypotheses, and optimise performance
- Improve the performance and efficiency of our cloud-based trading systems, ensuring ultra-low latency and high availability
- Work closely with traders, software engineers, and infrastructure teams to implement optimisations and share insights
- Build internal tools and frameworks for benchmarking, monitoring, and real-time performance optimization
What you need to succeed
- Between 3-7 years of experience in Performance Engineering roles
- Strong understanding of Linux systems, networking, and system internals, including kernel tuning and low-level optimization
- Experience in reverse engineering, system performance tuning, and low-latency networking
- Proficiency in Python and/or other programming languages such as C++ or Java
- Hands-on experience with performance monitoring, data analysis, and statistical modelling
- Familiarity with cloud-based systems, including AWS, GCP, or other cloud providers
- Ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating across multidisciplinary teams
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and a results-driven mindset
- Prior experience in trading, market-making, or financial systems is a plus
