Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior PEP Screening Team Lead to lead our PEP and Adverse Media Screening teams in Tallinn or in Budapest.

The main purpose of the team is to screen Wise customers for Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) and onboard them if we are comfortable with the level of risk involved. In selected jurisdictions, we also screen our customers for Adverse Media.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the team:

  • Lead the global PEPs teams, including outsourcing and training
  • Demand and capacity planning, including forward planning for recruitment
  • Ownership of KPIs and SLAs, ensuring customers receive near-instant service
  • Performance management to ensure consistency, quality, and output
  • Lead complex operational and compliance projects, ensuring deadlines are met and documentation is meticulous
  • Represent policies, processes, and auditable screening work to regulators and auditors
  • Make decisions within our policy framework, and work with compliance to evolve both policies and processes
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the rest of the business
  • Maintain strong relationships with Compliance, ensuring the right structure and processes are in place for effective oversight
  • Propose and implement solutions to increase automation and reduce costs

Qualifications

About you:

  • 2-3 years of experience leading an Operations Team, preferably within Financial Crime
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Proven track record of individual ownership and responsibilities, as well as being a great team player
  • Good understanding and ability to analyze, forecast, and move team metrics
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a complex organization across multiple cultures, geographies, and disciplines
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • You are eligible to work in Estonia or in Hungary - we don't offer visa or relocation support for this role.

Some extra skills that would be awesome:

  • Experience with PEPs
  • Second-line compliance experience

About the Role:

  • Starting salary: 3650 EUR gross/monthly in Estonia, 1,240,000 HUF in Hungary

  • Reports to: Global Screening Operations Lead

  • Start date: January 2025
