Who are PortSwigger

PortSwigger exists to enable the world to secure the web. We build the tools practitioners trust, the knowledge that trains security professionals, and a community that makes anyone who cares about security better — so anyone can make the internet safer. Our products are crafted with care, backed by deep research, and we lead through generous innovation: winning by setting the bar higher and sharing what we create, turning commercial success into wider positive impact.

Our culture didn't happen by accident — it was built deliberately, and it's something we protect with the same care we put into everything we make. We default to trust — brilliant people doing brilliant work, free from micromanagement. We aim for excellence, and we do it with care; performance and compassion go hand in hand. Joy, mastery and purpose belong together here — and if the work stops feeling good, we take that seriously.

The Culture tribe looks after people and the ways we work. You will have clear responsibility within the end-to-end people experience — from Talent Acquisition and Onboarding to Swigger Success Champions and broader people programmes. Our mission is to create the conditions for everyone to do their best work: coaching leaders, running development and growth programmes, and stewarding the behaviours, rituals and ways of working that make PortSwigger special. We partner with tribes across the business to embed these behaviours and help people thrive every day.

What you'll be doing

As a Swigger Success Champion, you’ll work closely with leaders to understand what they’re trying to achieve and help them build the teams, capabilities and people plans to get there. This is a broad People Partner role, combining business partnering, leader coaching, employee development and organisation design with sound judgement in complex employee relations.

You will:

  • Get to know your business areas: what they’re trying to achieve, how they contribute to PortSwigger’s success and what might get in the way. Turn that understanding into practical people plans with leaders, agree who will do what and follow through to see whether it’s working.
  • Help leaders hold clear expectations and difficult conversations in a way that reflects PortSwigger’s high-care, high-performance culture.
  • Connect people data, case insight and employee feedback with what’s happening in the business. Ask good questions, test assumptions and turn your analysis into clear recommendations, then check whether the action taken made a difference.
  • Look ahead at changes inside and outside PortSwigger, spot emerging people risks and opportunities, and bring ideas about how we could respond.
  • Help leaders plan the skills and capacity their teams will need, develop their people, shape how work is organised and clarify responsibilities. Turn those decisions into action that sets teams up for success as business needs, technology and AI change how we work.
  • Improve and simplify people and ER processes, building practical foundations that help leaders address issues early while keeping live casework moving with urgency, care and accurate documentation.
  • Strengthen leaders’ judgement and confidence so they can address people matters early and resolve them quickly and fairly. Understand our culture products and help leaders choose and use the right ones for their teams, follow through to see whether they helped and feed back what we could improve.
  • Independently own complex ER cases through to resolution, including sensitive matters relating to performance, capability, sickness absence, wellbeing, adjustments, probation, grievances, disciplinaries, investigations, offboarding and tribunal-related issues.
  • Apply strong UK employment law knowledge, Acas guidance and tribunal-process awareness to distinguish legal requirements, recommended practice and cultural choice.
  • Use AI frequently in your day-to-day work, and apply automation and better workflows to reduce repetitive administration and avoidable friction, while keeping human judgement central.

Requirements
  • Strong experience as a People Partner, with the confidence to operate independently, build trusted relationships and partner credibly with leaders.
  • Evidence of understanding business priorities and turning them into practical people plans, helping leaders make decisions, agreeing ownership and following through to clear outcomes.
  • Experience coaching leaders to build capable teams, set clear expectations and address people matters early, combining care for individuals with confidence in supporting high performance.
  • Experience helping leaders develop their people, plan future skills and capacity, shape how teams are organised and clarify responsibilities.
  • The ability to connect people's insights and employee feedback with business context, test assumptions, anticipate risks and opportunities, and assess whether actions have made a difference.
  • Sound judgement and the confidence to make clear recommendations, explaining options, rationale and trade-offs in plain English and adapting your approach to the audience.
  • Substantial experience independently owning complex ER cases from start to finish, including managing sensitive cases concurrently, supported by strong practical knowledge of UK employment law, Acas guidance and tribunal processes.
  • A proactive approach to simplifying people processes and improving how we work, with strong documentation and follow-through habits.
  • A strong interest in AI and automation, with a commitment to applying them thoughtfully in day-to-day work, experimenting and learning quickly while keeping human judgement central.

Benefits

At PortSwigger, we believe people should be paid what they're truly worth — not just what we could get away with or what the market dictates. That's why we pay above the market rate, and review it regularly.

In our 2025 survey, 80% of Swiggers said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their reward — against a YouGov benchmark of 40% for knowledge workers. The philosophy works.
