About the role

As People Partner for Corporate Functions, you will work with the People Director for your business areas to create and deliver strategic plans, enabling business goals and building a high-performing team culture. You will shape the people agenda, alongside your People Director, embed initiatives and bring pace, empathy and practical judgement to complex business challenges.
You will translate business strategy into clear plans and actions encompassing workforce planning, organisational design, talent, culture and capability. You will bring evidence-led insight to help leaders shape talent decisions and build the capability needed for commercial success.
As a rounded generalist, you will deliver change projects, manage Employee Relations activity and support recruitment and talent priorities with energy, pace and a strong bias for action.

What you will be doing:

  • Acting as a trusted HR advisor to your Leadership Team(s), working with the People Director to translate business objectives into people initiatives that drive a high-performance culture and long-term success. 
  • Represent the Corporate functions team priorities within the People team, ensuring they inform people planning and strategy. 
  • Support organisational design, restructures and role architecture, working with the People Director and Head of ER to ensure compliance with policy and employment law. 
  • Diagnose organisational challenges and design practical, people-centric solutions that improve performance and colleague experience. 
  • Lead local ER matters, including performance and grievances, ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation and company policy. 
  • Use analytics to identify trends, risks and opportunities, turning insight into clear, actionable recommendations that help leaders make better people and business decisions. 
  • Support talent management initiatives including performance management, talent reviews, succession planning and development planning  
  • Coach leaders on effective performance management, employee engagement, and conflict resolution  
  • Support change initiatives, including cultural transformation, business integration and process improvements, using agile ways of working to test, learn and adapt solutions quickly. 
  • Work closely with other People Partners, Advisors and the Head of ER to ensure consistency and alignment. 
  • Partner with Talent, Reward, People Operations and Learning and Development to prioritise work, coordinate People team support and deliver high-impact solutions. 

About you:

  • Previous Senior HR Advisor or HRBP experience (preferably within Corporate Functions)
  • Proven ability to influence at C-suite / senior leadership level 
  • Strong change, culture and ER experience, supporting leaders through transformation with pace, clarity and trust. 
  • Capability across organisational design, talent, performance and workforce planning, with experience raising standards in talent quality, succession and leadership capability. 
  • Experience supporting transformation programmes across culture, organisational design, ways of working and performance improvement. 
  • Comfortable challenging leaders to raise standards in talent, performance and culture, while providing practical, commercially grounded HR support. 
  • Experience using data and insight to shape people recommendations and decisions. 
  • Financial services / FCA-regulated environment is preferred
  • People technology exposure (e.g. Workday) 

Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of UK Employment legislation
  • Organisational design and job architecture frameworks 
  • Talent and succession methodologies  
  • Future capability planning, emerging skills needs and external talent market dynamics 
  • Regulatory environments (e.g., SMCR, conduct risk) is preferred

  • Connects people strategy to business outcomes, using strong commercial acumen and judgement. 
  • Uses data, insight and judgement to shape clear recommendations and decisions. 
  • Strong programme and project delivery capability, with the ability to move people initiatives from strategy to execution. 
  • Confident operating as a cultural change agent, able to influence mindsets, behaviours and leadership expectations. 
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, complexity and pace. 
  • Excellent communicator across technical and business audiences. 
  • High integrity, discretion and resilience. 
  • Self-directed, outcome-focused and collaborative, with an agile, curious mindset. 

Qualifications:  

  • Professional HR accreditation preferred (CIPD 7 or similar)  

Working Schedule:

This role is based in Number One, Welcome Building, Bristol, BS2 0TR. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office 3 days a week.
