As a People Operations Generalist at Synthflow, you’ll take end-to-end ownership of our people processes— ensuring that everything from onboarding to offboarding runs smoothly, efficiently, and compliantly. You’ll be the go-to person for all things People Ops, combining hands-on execution with process improvement and automation.

While your main focus will be Europe, your work will also support our globally distributed team. You’ll partner closely with our Finance, Legal, and Leadership teams to make sure our people operations scale alongside our growth — staying compliant, efficient, and employee-centric.

• Run the employee lifecycle end-to-end: onboarding, contract management, payroll inputs, benefits administration, and offboarding.

• Act as the main point of contact for employees and managers on people operations, policy, and process questions.

• Ensure compliance with German labor law while supporting operations and compliance across other locations.

• Coordinate with Finance and Legal on employment changes, vendor management, and policy updates.

• Own HR systems and data accuracy (HRIS sanity, benefits, leave management).

• Run payroll in partnership with our external providers and internal stakeholders.

• Support workplace operations at our Berlin HQ, fostering a great employee experience on-site and remotely.

• Keep our people documentation up-to-date: maintaining internal resources, templates, and employee knowledge bases.

• Drive operational excellence: support the broader People & Ops team by streamlining tools, workflows, and communications.
  

• 3-4 years of experience in People Operations, HR Administration, or similar roles, ideally in a startup or scale-up environment.

• 1–2 years of hands-on experience running payroll processes across multiple countries (Germany, UK, and the Netherlands), including vendor coordination and reconciliation.

• Strong understanding of different employment types and contract structures (full-time, freelance, fixed-term, working student) and how they impact payroll, compliance, and benefits.

• A proven ability to build and maintain a strong remote culture, ensuring engagement and cohesion across distributed teams.

• Experience in stakeholder management, especially working closely with Team Leads to support workforce planning, headcount tracking, and role changes.

• Solid grasp of German employment law and HR compliance, with familiarity in other European regulations being a plus.

• Proficiency with HR systems and digital workflows (e.g. Hibob, Deel, Personio, or equivalent tools).

• A structured, detail-oriented approach — you can juggle multiple processes, stay organized, and maintain accuracy under pressure

• Genuine interest in people operations, automation, and scalable processes that make work smoother and more human.
