About Homebot

Homebot is a homeownership platform used by mortgage lenders, real estate agents, and title and companies to help their clients build wealth through homeownership. As a small but mighty team (~80 people), we value self-starters who are scrappy, eager, and ready to take on big challenges.

The Role

We are seeking a People Operations Generalist with a foundational understanding of HR, talent acquisition, and employee payroll and benefits who is motivated to grow their expertise across the employee experience. From day one, you’ll own real breadth, including facilities management, recruiting coordination, onboarding, HR systems, team meetings and events, employee support, benefits administration, and a slice of payroll. This is not a role for someone seeking routine. We’re looking for a multitasker who thrives in a dynamic environment, juggling in-the-moment requests while driving projects forward. If you spot a broken process, you dive in to improve it before being asked. You're quick to learn new technology and are eager to leverage AI for smarter, more efficient work.

This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our Denver office. The team works in office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and you're comfortable working in the office as needed to keep facilities management humming. You must be located in the Denver area.

Your Team

You’ll report directly to the Director of People Operations, collaborate closely with the Finance team, work alongside managers, and directly support ~80 Homebotters.

What You'll Do

  • Recruiting coordination: Manage scheduling, configure our ATS (Ashby), and coordinate with hiring teams to keep hiring campaigns on track. Serve as the face of our talent function, conducting phone screens and managing all candidate correspondence. Grow into sourcing and hiring optimization as you build your track record.
  • Onboarding: Co-own, iterate, and execute new-hire processes from offer acceptance to the first week. Set up payroll and systems, manage stakeholders, and partner with colleagues to create a stellar welcome for new Homebotters.
  • HR systems & data integrity: Maintain employee data and optimize our tech stack (Paylocity, Ashby, benefits portals, Slack, Notion, Google Drive, etc.). Proactively identify opportunities for AI and automation to reduce manual work. You’ll balance requirements from legacy systems with state and federal compliance, while innovating workflows to improve visibility, compliance, and efficiency for the People Operations function.
  • Employee support & administration: Act as a trusted point of contact for all Homebotters. Field questions on everything from company policies, to team meetings, to People Ops processes. Bring a warm, solutions-oriented approach to every interaction.
  • Benefits knowledge: Become an expert in our perks and benefits programs, supporting employees in maximizing their value. Manage self-service resources, answer ad-hoc questions, and keep a strong working knowledge of state/federal leave and benefits interactions.
  • Payroll support: Maintain accurate employee data, manage payroll changes, and ensure clear communication with Finance. Support timely and accurate payroll. Gain exposure to audits, multi-state compliance, and accounting processes.
  • Office & facilities: Manage in-office resources and building logistics for our Denver office. Help with everything from building fob access to deliveries to parking questions.
  • Event planning: Plan and execute team gatherings and events, from team lunches, to onsites, to seasonal celebrations. Delight in opportunities to bring the team together while managing the organizational systems that facilitate these connection events.

What Success Looks Like

At 90 days

You’ve immersed yourself in Homebot’s culture, learned core People Operations workflows and are running most of them independently. Success will be demonstrated through thoughtful questions, improving messy or incomplete processes, quickly adopting tools and systems, staying organized in your onboarding, and forging strong relationships across the team. Homebotters will immediately feel comfortable approaching you for help and guidance, and you'll feel confident supporting them.

By six months

You are a trusted partner to employees and managers for daily People Ops needs. You’re running payroll with Finance's guidance, completing employee file updates, running leave administration, planning team events, spearheading hiring campaigns and keeping them on track, and implementing technology-forward efficiency improvements.

What You'll Need

  • 3+ years in a People Ops, HR, or Talent role, OR a generalist or admin role that regularly supported payroll, benefits, onboarding, or hiring
  • Experience working at a small organization (under 200 employees)
  • Exposure to state and federal compliance and employment law
  • High level of ownership and autonomy, alongside comfort working in an ambiguous and dynamic environment
  • Comfort and eagerness to use a variety of tools and systems (HRIS, ATS, Slack, Notion)
  • A genuine interest in using AI to build more efficient workflows and solutions
  • Strong initiative and self-direction in your work and learning
  • Curious about specific People Ops areas you’d like to grow into
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience delivering quality customer service with warmth and professionalism
  • Organized, detail-oriented and high level of accuracy. Spreadsheets are your friend
  • Comfortable juggling many priorities at once with grace and a “can-do” attitude

Desired but not required:

  • Prior exposure to payroll processing
  • Background at an early-stage or scaling company
