We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a People Operations Consultant (journeys) in our People Operations Team, within the colleague Experience and Operations area of our People Function.  We’ll be hosting a virtual open forum on if you would like to hear more about this role and ask any questions. 

Job Type: Fixed Term Contract - 12 months

Location: Telford or Edinburgh – Hybrid working is in place with weekly office attendance.

Salary and benefits: £33,200 - £36,000 DOE plus an indicative bonus range of 8-16%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more

The Role

We are currently recruiting for People Operations Consultants to join our People Operations Team within the Colleague Experience and Operations area of our people function. As a People Operations Consultant the aim is to deliver a consistently positive and seamless experience for all colleagues across all journeys.  The role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on providing high quality services, through both personal interaction and digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering exceptional experiences
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) across the full employee lifecycle – from onboarding to offboarding and all the key moments in between
  • Manage colleague queries and requests with empathy, efficiency and professionalism, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve complex scenarios, consistently delivering appropriate outcomes
  • Collaborate with third party providers and operational leaders to ensure service delivery meets organisational high standards
  • Always ensure full compliance with legal requirements and internal policies

This role goes beyond expertise in People Journeys – its about championing the colleague experience - whether resolving complex queries, streamlining processes, or supporting strategic initiatives, the work contributes to building a workplace where individuals feel supported, valued and empowered to thrive

Essential Criteria

  • Up to date knowledge of managing journey processes across all journeys with the ability to understand the system, the current issues and identify the right solution
  • Experience of implementing a solution/change to a journey and the output of the change
  • Proven examples to showcase excellent communication skills to deal with key stakeholders and external parties
  • An understanding of dealing with disgruntled customers, taking ownership and closing down noise without escalation
  • Previous experience of dealing with complex scenarios and managing this through to successful solutions.
