Job DescriptionThe People and Culture Advisor plays a key role in supporting Schréder's Human Resources and Work Health & Safety (WHS) functions. Acting as a trusted advisor, this position provides expert guidance on a broad range of HR matters including employee relations, recruitment, policy development, and compliance. As the first point of contact for WHS-related concerns, the Advisor ensures the consistent application of safety protocols and legislative requirements. Working closely with managers and staff, the role fosters a positive workplace culture and drives the successful delivery of HR and WHS initiatives across the organisation.
Qualifications- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a People and Culture or HR advisory role.
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business Admin, or similar.
- Experience supporting blue-collar workers and understanding their workplace needs.
- Private sector experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in HRIS and HR data management.
- Sound knowledge of Australian employment law and WHS legislation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive issues professionally.
Key Responsibilities
As the People and Culture Advisor, you’ll play a vital role in supporting both employees and leaders across the organisation. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Employee Relations
- Act as a trusted point of contact for employee queries, concerns, and grievances.
- Provide expert guidance on HR policies, workplace issues, and procedures.
- Lead the resolution of employee relations matters, including investigations and disciplinary processes.
- Coach and support managers in addressing performance or conduct issues.
2. Performance Management
- Assist the People & Culture Business Partner in managing the quarterly and annual performance review process (PDP).
- Deliver training to new managers on goal setting, performance feedback, and review procedures.
3. Policy Development & Compliance
- Communicate and embed HR policies across the organisation.
- Monitor legislative and compliance updates, recommending and implementing policy changes as needed.
- Manage annual reporting requirements (e.g. WGEA) and Award rate updates.
4. Recruitment & Onboarding
- Support recruitment activities, including shortlisting, interviewing, and selection (as required).
- Coordinate onboarding processes to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for new employees.
5. HR Programs & Initiatives
- Collaborate on the delivery of key HR programs such as engagement surveys, learning and development, talent management, and diversity initiatives.
- Lead the creation and execution of the annual WHS and employee engagement calendar.
- Organise and host quarterly birthday and work anniversary celebrations.
6. HR Data Management
- Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS and ensure data integrity.
- Prepare and present quarterly HR reports and metrics to the Leadership Team.
- Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and compliance in all HR data handling.
7. Work Health & Safety (WHS)
- Partner with the QA Systems Manager to ensure compliance with all WHS legal obligations.
- Oversee WHS policy updates, training, and implementation across the organisation.
- Monitor completion of WHS actions and ensure timely resolution of safety concerns.
- Ensure employees are informed of the Return to Work (RTW) coordinator and insurer details.
- Maintain records of required WHS licenses and training.
- Support annual ISO audit preparedness in collaboration with QA Systems.
