What’s the vibe like in the office?

What jumps out is our teamwork. We are valued for our technical skills as well as how we represent our company values. I love the culture of enthusiasm and camaraderie we have both in our main College Park office, and with our globally remote teams. We cheer each other on, celebrate our wins, and are always working toward the next big dream.

What projects are you most excited about?

My background is in using the world's fastest supercomputers to develop new materials. What excites me about working for IonQ is that quantum computers can help discover entirely new materials, which would've been unimaginable without our technology! I'm especially passionate about contributing toward clean energy and personalized medicine.

What does career growth look like on your team?

Our team ranges in experience from recent college hires to highly experienced engineers. Team members quickly move from contributor to leadership roles. Over time, their scope expands from one feature to whole projects. At each stage we make sure our team members are mentored and supported by senior engineers on the team.

How do you empower your team to be more creative?

Creativity flourishes when people are comfortable taking risks. Creating a culture where failure is a learning opportunity–and the key part is the learning–makes the team stronger. I share my mistakes so my team understands failure is good, normal, and an opportunity to learn something new. And then we celebrate the wins!
