About the role
We're hiring a People and Performance Manager. This is a hands-on, fast paced generalist role working closely with the CEO. You'll partner with school and group leaders on the people work that keeps a fast growing startup moving: performance, engagement, development, recruitment, employee relations, and automating the processes underneath.
You will coach and develop our people leaders and support embedding a high performance culture consistently across teams.
What you'll be doingAdvise school and group leaders on performance, feedback, engagement, and day-to-day people decisions.
Run hands-on recruitment for priority roles: brief the role, source and interview, help managers build a strong team, and fix hiring process where quality or pace slips.
Own employee relations end to end and support through change or restructure. Pull in specialist or legal advice when needed.
Lift how candidates and new starters experience us, including onboarding so people land ready to contribute.
Coach managers on performance, feedback and developing culture.
Build and improve practical HR and comms processes so people work scales with the group instead of becoming a bottleneck and people leaders can self serve where possible.
Use AI and automation to cut admin so more of your week stays on proactive support.
Several years as a People Advisor, HR Advisor, or HR Business Partner (or the same job under another title), including end to end generalist experience.
Hands-on recruiting experience: interviewing, selecting, building teams, and improving how hiring runs.
Experience advising managers in a high-growth, multi-site, or remote-heavy teams.
Passionate about making change and doing things differently.
Clear written advice, calm under pressure, and strong judgment.
Auckland-based and able to work hybrid across our schools and remote teams.
Skills Required
- Several years of experience as a People Advisor, HR Advisor, HR Business Partner, or equivalent, with end-to-end generalist HR experience
- Hands-on recruitment experience, including interviewing, selecting candidates, building teams, and improving hiring processes
- Experience advising managers in high-growth, multi-site, or remote-heavy teams
- Strong written communication, calmness under pressure, and sound judgment
- Auckland-based and able to work hybrid across schools and remote teams
