Cochlear Asia-Pacific, the fastest growing division of Cochlear, has a direct market presence in Japan, Korea, China, India, SE Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Our implantable hearing device portfolio includes cochlear implant systems (Nucleus®) and bone conduction implant systems (Baha®)

The Role
We’re seeking an experienced and passionate People and Culture Business Partner to play a lead role in supporting HR initiatives across the APAC region. Reporting to the Vice President, People and Culture, APAC, this dynamic role combines strategic leadership with hands-on engagement and execution of key initiatives that enable us to achieve our strategic growth goals, whilst fostering a high performance and collaborative culture.

The position will work closely with the APAC business units, Regional teams and Global Centers of Expertise (COEs), while utilising People & Culture processes and platforms to achieve short- and medium-term business plans.

You will work as part of a regional People and Culture team, with a specific focus on supporting our operations in Australia, New Zealand, Korea and Japan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regional Business Partnering : Oversee the delivery of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with Cochlear’s global vision and APAC-specific needs.

  • Talent Management: Develop and implement frameworks for talent acquisition, retention, and development across the region.

  • Culture Building: Drive initiatives that foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace.

  • Compliance and Policy: Ensure adherence to employment laws and regulations across multiple APAC jurisdictions.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with regional leadership to support business goals and align people strategies with organisational priorities.

  • Employee Engagement: Champion employee well-being, diversity, and inclusion through innovative programs and practices.

About You
To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • Proven experience working as a HR Business Partner within the APAC region, preferably in the medical device or healthcare sectors.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • A deep understanding of cultural nuances and employment frameworks across APAC countries.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire diverse teams.

  • Expertise in talent management, organisational development, and change management.

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and customer focus, solution oriented.

  • Strong project management: ability to manage competing priorities with a strong eye for detail.

  • Strong initiative and solid judgment.

  • Demonstrated success in delivering effective engagement strategies and learning and development initatives

  • Experience in developing and upskilling leadership teams
