As Hydrow’s People & Culture Lead, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining an environment where individuals and the organization can thrive as we continue to grow & scale. The People Operations function is one that will support and align with the organization’s business goals, objectives, and strategies while also honoring each individual’s contribution to and journey at Hydrow.
As Hydrow’s Office Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations in our small office. This role is pivotal in ensuring a smooth workflow, maintaining a positive work environment, and supporting the team to meet organizational goals.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Employee Relations: Serve as the first point of contact for employees, providing guidance on workplace policies, resolving concerns, and fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Benefits Administration: Oversee benefits enrollment, answer employee questions, and collaborate with providers to resolve issues. Lead our annual open enrollment process, from planning meetings with brokers, to presenting and guiding employees through benefits selection.
- HR Administration: Maintain and update employee records, manage HRIS systems, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws.
- Recruiting, Hiring, and Onboarding: Administer our applicant tracking system (Lever), assist hiring managers with listing roles and managing interviews. Coordinate offers being made. Work with hiring managers, IT, and others on the onboarding of new employees.
- Performance Management: Support the implementation and administration of performance review cycles and employee development initiatives.
- Policy Development: Assist in drafting, updating, and communicating company policies, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and company culture.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to employment regulations, maintain required documentation, and oversee processes like FMLA and accommodations under ADA.
- HR Projects: Collaborate on strategic HR initiatives, including workforce planning and employee engagement strategies.
- Office Management: Manage day-to-day office operations, including overseeing supplies and office maintenance, ensuring that the office is clean, organized, and well-stocked as well as coordinating repairs, maintenance, and improvements with landlords or vendors. From time-to-time there is also some basic IT support such as troubleshooting issues and working with tech support when needed and managing software subscriptions and office equipment. Other tasks and duties as assigned.
WHO YOU ARE
- 2 - 4 years of work experience in human resources or related fields with a background in benefits administration, HR systems, and compliance.
- Experience working with HR platforms and tools to build and implement more efficient workflows and processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical skills, including ability to manage and analyze data using Excel and Google Sheets
- Passionate about being there for employees
- Able to work onsite in our Boston office, 2-3 days per week preferred
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE
- Experience managing Leaves of Absence
- Experience working in a smaller organization or as a solo HR practitioner
