As a People & Culture Generalist – Case Management you would support team members managing their claim through illness, recovery and return to work. You would provide disability benefits education and proactive case management focused on return to work. This role involves advising on case management to facilitate the rehabilitation of ill and/or injured employees by developing, implementing, and managing sick leave, early intervention strategies, third-party insurance claims, safe and durable return to work plans, stay at work plans, gradual return to work and medical accommodation plans in partnership with Health and Safety. The People & Culture Generalist – Case Management will work closely with employees, departmental supervisors, management and internal and external partners in the delivery of programs and services. You will partner with Health & Safety and the Benefits team in the application of thoughtful, intentional, and innovative people practices.

The People & Culture (P&C) team empowers all people to be their whole selves and provides support for talent strategies, best practices, engagement and the employee experience. You will work with a dedicated local P&C team at ARC’One which brings company-wide initiatives to reality and takes care of all aspects of P&C for the dedicated manufacturing and distribution employees.
If you were the People and Culture Generalist – Case Management now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Acts as a first point of contact during an employee’s medical absence and serves as a focal point for centralized communication on processes and requirements associated with their occupational and non-occupational illness and/or injury, and information on resources available during recovery. Responsible for outcome-focused case management plans, requesting regular updates from employees and maintaining accurate records.
- Create and maintain confidential Claims Management and Recovery at Work files for each case, and monitor their statuses for short-term disability, long term disability, ICBC and WorkSafe BC claims, along with any WCB reviews and appeals
- Interprets, reviews and assesses medical documentation, in collaboration Health & Safety, and relevant parties to ensure medical is clear, current, and credible.
- Collaborates with Health and Safety to support employees who are ill and/or injured, including but not limited to assisting in the design of modified/alternate work opportunities, or return to work plans to mitigate absences from work due to injury/illness.
- Reviews job demands/accommodation requests and works with Health & Safety to identify suitable work while adhering to the essential duties.
- Arranges for ergonomic evaluation in partnership with Health & Safety.
- Provides support, guidance and education to leaders during their employee’s medical absence and their return-to-work integration
- Provide accurate and timely information regarding cases to People Leaders, third-party insurers, and other internal relevant parties.
- Seeking to identify and solve the root cause of employee relations issues and foster a positive work environment, with the guidance and support of the People and Culture Business Partners prepare, compile and distribute various reports, files, statistics, dashboards, documents and lists.
- Maintain confidentiality, accuracy and integrity in the collection, processing, and maintenance of information in accordance with legislation
- Playing a key role in ensuring our systems, including Workday and other online portals, reflect accurate and up-to-date information
- Supporting the Business Partnership team with other administrative duties, projects and ad hoc requests as needed

- Participate in projects and programs to stand up the leave management pillar factoring in new industry trends, or critical developments
- Evaluate physical demands analysis documents in partnership with Health & Safety
- Review and map leave processes, identifying and supporting rollout of recommendations
- Conducting and leading manager and supervisor training on workflows, processes and expectations
- Participate and ideating in various health and wellness improvement projects
- Participate and execute broader Engagement, Workforce Planning and Talent Strategies within the Business Partnership team
Are you our next People and Culture Generalist – Case Management?
- You have a degree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management, Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline
- You have 3+ years of experience in a position that often interacts with manufacturing and/or warehouse employees, or equivalent education and experience
- You have comprehensive knowledge of ESA, OHS legislation, provincial regulations, and best practices
- Experience in a Manufacturing and/or Distribution Centre environment is an asset
- Strong computer proficiency, specifically in Microsoft Office Suite
- You have strong interpersonal skills with an upbeat, positive and approachable personality, and a desire and ability to build strong relationships through open and honest conversations, keen observations and a customer-service focused mentality
- You have working knowledge of human resources functions and procedures, including but not limited to recruitment, performance management, policy development and occupational health and safety
- You have strong written and verbal English communication skills - including the ability to interpret and explain regulations to others
- Your ability to speak a second language is an asset
- You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
- You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
- You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
