Job Summary
We are seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide non-clinical, recovery-oriented support to individuals in our program. This role involves using lived experience and specialized training to assist residents in their recovery journey by offering emotional support, mentorship, and advocacy. The Peer Support Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and empowering environment.
Applicants without active Peer Support Certification will not be considered.
Regular, in person attendance is required for this role.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- The chief responsibility of a Peer Support Specialist is to help clients with a history of substance use and/or mental health conditions.
- Meeting with mental health professionals to establish treatment plans
- Providing coaching and emotional support for clients
- Helping clients manage appointments with mental health professionals
- Reporting concerns about health and safety to other members of the care team
- Keeping accurate records of client encounters
- Writing recovery reviews to update client files
- Maintaining client confidentiality

- Writing skills to produce clear, concise recovery reports
- Computer skills to utilize email, word processing, and records-management software
- Basic understanding of best practices for substance use and mental health counseling
Education and Experience:
- Peer Support Specialist Certification required.
- Applicants chosen for hire must pass UDS.
- BCI Background Check required, criminal history will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis; Anew Behavioral Health is a Fair Chance employer.

Physical Requirements:
The applicant must be able to perform primarily light and sedentary duties with occasionally moderate physical demands, exercise patience, and control emotions, with reasonable accommodation, without endangering the health and safety of the applicant or others;

Must be able to use a computer with or without reasonable accommodation;
