About You

The Peer Mentoring Officer supports the delivery and continuous improvement of RMIT’s academic peer mentoring programs across local and global locations. Working closely with the Senior Coordinator, Library Peer Mentoring, the role provides administrative and operational support for day-to-day program activities through digital delivery channels and across Library sites.

Peer Mentoring is a key Library service delivered in close partnership with Study Support. The Officer helps ensure these services are aligned and effectively promoted to students across the University.

The role delivers end-to-end administrative processes and contributes to developing a scalable, sustainable peer mentoring model aligned with the Library’s Digital First strategy. It also builds relationships with key stakeholders to support integrated mentoring and student belonging initiatives that advance RMIT’s strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with exceptional attention to detail. Experience or skills in Communications or Marketing would be highly regarded, particularly in creating engaging content to support promotional activities and increase student awareness and participation in mentoring programs.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

•  Proven experience in effectively contributing to student-focused support initiatives.

•  Demonstrated ability to work systematically and flexibly through change using adaptable work practices to support ‘digital first’ and sustainable work practices.

•  Proven ability to work independently, use initiative and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality assurance.

•  Developed interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups, and contribute to the RMIT Student Community, by discussing ways to influence continual improvements for the student experience.

•  Demonstrated ability to contribute to the promotion and engagement of student support programs, including developing and delivering digital content, supporting events and campaigns (e.g. orientation), and enhancing student awareness and participation.

•  Demonstrated ability to contribute to team meetings through agility, collaboration, and action.

•  Ability to present information to various audiences through the collection, manipulation, analysis and presentation of data to inform decision making and enhance reporting.

•  Proven ability exercising RMIT values and contribution to a positive work culture within a large and complex organisation.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
