The Peer Mentor shares the responsibility for ensuring that our Young Adults receive professional, safe care in a well-maintained and secure environment. In this function the Peer Mentor shares the responsibility to ensure that YMCA, DCF/DMH and DEEC policies are applied. The Peer Mentor will utilize their experiences, communication skills, knowledge of treatment systems and motivational and encouragement skills to support our Young Adults. The Peer Mentor will provide our Young Adults with a positive role model, work to enhance the self-worth of our Young Adults and assist our Young Adults with their efforts at reaching their full potential. The Peer Mentor will contribute to a positive work environment by illustrating pride in his/her job and cooperation with their co-workers. The Peer Mentor will reflect and display the Old Colony Y values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications- High School diploma or the equivalent
- Work related experience working with adolescents preferred.
- Experience within Social Services.
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in Human Services (preferred, not required).
