Life in northeastern North Carolina provides a slower pace of life for those looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle. Although quaint, the area is rich and diverse in its recreational and cultural offerings in addition to fabulous historical sites. Elizabeth City, a small coastal city that about 18,000 people call home, is located along the Pasquotank River and offers a multitude of outdoor activities for nature lovers. It is only a short drive to North Carolina’s Outer Banks Beaches, a 100-mile long chain of barrier islands. One of the most popular attractions in the Outer Banks is Jockey’s Ridge State Park that houses the tallest living sand dune system on the Atlantic coast. Local attractions to Elizabeth City include The Pines Golf & Country Club, Museum of the Albemarle, and College of the Albemarle’s Performing Art Center. Elizabeth City is a rural community where our physicians are truly respected and appreciated and it’s only 45 minutes to the amenities of Norfolk and Virginia Beach and 1.5 hours from East Carolina University’s Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium
