Job Purpose

The Pediatric Physiatrist provides direct care to a wide variety of patients within Bethany Children Health Center’s inpatient and outpatient settings.  This position will support and have involvement in multidisciplinary clinics as well as participate in research and quality improvement initiatives.  The Pediatric Physiatrist with have supervision of Advanced Practice Providers (PA/APRN) that support the department in providing patient care as well as PGY-3 pediatric residents.

Qualifications

Education:

-MD or DO degree required
-Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation residency training program

Experience:

2 years of post-graduate pediatric hospital medicine experience preferred

License/Certification/Credential:

-Current Oklahoma Medical License in good standing (or eligible)
-Board Certified in Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
-DEA License in good standing (or eligible)
-OBNDD License in good standing (or eligible)

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duty

Providing direct patient care including but not limited to: reviewing and evaluating patient referrals, admissions, daily care (acute and chronic), call responsibilities

Supervision of Advanced Practice Providers (PA/APRN) involving co-management of patients, education, and consultative services

20%

Education of PGY-3 pediatric residents through direction supervision of clinical activities, one-on-one teaching, and career mentoring

10%

Organizational citizenship by participating in a minimum of at least one hospital-based committee, involvement with Quality Improvement (QI) endeavors, active participation in Medical Staff activities, providing educational offerings for staff

5%

Other duties as assigned

Bethany Children’s Health Center is an innovative leader in the field of pediatric rehabilitation and 24-hour complex care. The hospital offers inpatient and outpatient services for children (ages 0-21) and is the only inpatient pediatric rehabilitation facility in Oklahoma. Our CARF accredited multidisciplinary team works with patients and their families to maximize the patient’s physical and cognitive potential, and ensure the family has the training and resources needed for a smooth transition from hospital to home. This statute allows Bethany Children’s Health Center to refuse to hire an applicant or discharge an employee in a safety-sensitive position, who tests positive for marijuana even if the applicant or employee holds a valid Oklahoma medical marijuana license.

Skills Required

  • MD or DO degree
