Position Summary

The PCS Scrubber Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment that mitigates contamination and controls chemical/particle abatement within the semiconductor fabrication facility (Fab).
This role bridges engineering, process control, and quality assurance, ensuring that our cleanrooms meet stringent contamination specifications while minimizing downtime and operational costs.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

Design & Development

  • Conceptualize abatement solutions for new fabs or plant upgrades.
  • Translate process requirements into detailed equipment specifications.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses (HIRA), and failure‑mode analyses.
  • Produce deliverables:
    • Complete design drawing review, BOMs, and specification documents.
    • Risk assessment reports and safety analysis documentation.

Implementation & Commissioning

  • Coordinate procurement, construction, and process teams for equipment installation.
  • Execute commissioning plans, including tank/roll‑line calibrations and performance qualification (PQ).
  • Deliverables:
    • Commissioning reports and qualification documentation.
    • Approved instrumentation and control gate documentation.

Operation & Optimization

  • Monitor equipment performance metrics (e.g., deposition rates, DRE)
  • Run continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Poka‑yoke) targeting contamination trends.
  • Write standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Monthly KPI dashboards.
  • SOPs validated for consistency.

Maintenance & Reliability

  • Develop preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures via root‑cause analysis.
  • Coordinate spare‑part logistics.
  • PM plans, maintenance logs.
  • Corrective action records.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure equipment complies site regulations and quality expectations.
  • Audit record‑keeping for traceability.
  • QA audit findings, corrective action plans.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as technical liaison between fab engineers, maintenance, and suppliers.
  • Lead cross‑functional project teams for equipment upgrades or replacements.
  • Project charters, meeting minutes.

Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Create cost models for capital purchases, PM, and upgrades.
  • Track spend and forecast future capital needs.
  • Budget variance reports, ROI analyses.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.Eng.) in Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Semiconductor fab or cleanroom facility knowledge, focusing on equipment design, commissioning, or maintenance. Prior experience with abatement/particle control equipment is highly desirable.
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt (optional but preferred), OSHA 30‑hour Industrial Safety (recommended)
  • CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), MATLAB/Python data analysis, PLC programming
  • Strong analytical mind, initiative, teamwork, and cross‑functional communication.
  Key Competencies & Skills
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of semiconductor fab processes (ETCH, Implant, etc.), Design & analysis of fluid dynamics, particle control, and plasma systems, Equipment reliability and data analysis.
  • Problem‑Solving: Root cause analysis using tools: 5‑Why, Pareto, Fishbone, Data‑driven approach (ANOVA, DOE, Six Sigma).
  • Project Management: Fleet management, budget monitoring, risk register maintenance, Familiar with Agile/Lean constructs for fab equipment projects.
  • Communication: Effective technical writing (specs, SOPs, reports), Presentations to management, fab shift leads, and suppliers.
  • Safety & Compliance: Familiar with OSHA, ISO, EPA regulations.

The current base salary range for this role is between $70,480 - $179,090. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
