The Microelectronics Design and Applications operating unit within Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is a highly motivated, talented, and growing organization focused on advancing the science and engineering of superconducting electronic systems into new capabilities and products. Transformational Computing is developing the technologies to transform computing beyond Moore’s Law by advancing development of computer architectures, processing and memory subsystems, and large-scale high-performance computing systems.
The Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) department is seeking an experienced Systems and Electrical Test Engineers to join our team and develop these technologies into high-performance computing systems. You’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make these technologies a reality.
Roles & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support test and test development activities for superconducting electronics development.
- Develop automated testing procedures for the characterization and validation of fabrication methods in superconducting devices.
- Support the current and future development of test platforms within function, cost, and schedule constraints.
- Document and implement test requirements and procedures.
- Review test plans for accuracy and completeness.
- Compile data and help to define changes required in testing methodology, equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, and new testing requirements.
This position requires work on site located at our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) in Linthicum/ Annapolis Junction, MD.
Basic Qualifications for PCM Systems Test Engineer:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a similar technical discipline with 3 years of related experience or MS or PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related experience.
- This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements.
- Well established trouble shooting and system integration experience.
- Strong analytic skills and familiarity in performing statistical analysis.
- Proficient in the use of at least one of the following programing languages; MATLAB, Python, C, or C++.
- Experience programing and automating test hardware.
- Experience working with electrical instrumentation (source meters, network analyzers, etc.).
- Experience leading projects with the ability to communicate effectively to team members both written and verbally.
Preferred Qualifications for PCM Systems Test Engineer:
- Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance.
- Experience in superconducting electronics and associated test platforms.
- Familiarity working with cryogens and/or cryogenic test systems, wet or dry.
- Experience developing small/medium size applications in Python/MATLAB
- Knowledgeable in techniques used in the fabrication of Integrated Circuits as well as a basic understand of device physics principles.
- Adept at leading small teams of engineers and/or technicians.
- Ability to adjust to changing priorities and requirements.
Salary Range: $83,300.00 - $130,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
