Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced PCB Design Engineer with advanced proficiency in Altium Designer, and a strong background in high voltage and high current PCB design, as well as signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI). This role is critical to the development of robust, high-performance electronic systems used in demanding mass production applications such as industrial, automotive, or power electronics.
This role will collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Component and Manufacturing Engineering throughout the PCB development lifecycle, from design requirements and schematic review through layout, prototype builds, validation, and manufacturing release.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and layout of multi-layer PCBs using Altium Designer, optimized for high voltage and high current (>50A), and Power Converter applications;
Ensure compliance with creepage and clearance standards, including pollution standards, insulation coordination, and thermal management best practices;
Perform signal integrity and power integrity analysis to ensure reliable operation under dynamic load conditions;
Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to optimize component placement, routing, and enclosure integration;
Generate complete manufacturing documentation including Gerber/ODB++ files, BOMs, and assembly drawings;
Setup DRC/ERC checks and validates designs against IPC and safety standards (e.g., IPC-2221, UL, IEC);
Support prototype builds, bring-up, and debugging of high-power circuits;
Create and maintain a central Altium Library for use by other engineers;
Create new components based on datasheets;
Create rules and templates for when adding new library components.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience;
7+ years of experience in PCB design, with strong hands-on expertise in Altium Designer;
Proven experience designing high voltage (>1500V), high current (>50A), including thermal and mechanical considerations, up to 8 layers or more;
Experience with analog, digital, and mixed-signal PCB design;
Strong knowledge in thermal management, creepage and clearance, insulation requirements, controlled impedance, grounding, and return-path management;
Solid understanding of PCB fabrication and PCBA assembly processes, including DFM/DFA and manufacturing constraints, working with PCB fabricators and contract manufacturers through prototype and production phases;
Good understanding of SI/PI principles, high-frequency current flow, parasitic inductance, capacitance and coupling; impedance control, decoupling strategies, and PDN design;
Familiarity with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and safety compliance standards;
Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, engineering specifications, and component datasheets;
Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and cross-functional communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with power conversion systems, motor drives, industrial controls, renewable energy, or similar applications;
Experience with medium- and high-speed digital interfaces;
Experience with advanced PCB technologies such as rigid-flex, HDI, heavy copper, or specialized stack-ups;
Familiarity with SI/PI analysis tools such as Altium PDN Analyzer, HyperLynx, Sigrity, or ANSYS SIwave;
Experience with Altium 365 and PLM/PDM environments;
Knowledge of relevant IPC, UL, and IEC standards for PCB design and power electronics products.
