  • Summary Associate is proficient at spraying gel coat on molds that operate within the CMP spray booth or the small parts spray booth.  This associate is required to apply gel coat within specified thicknesses and colors free of defects.  Must be able to complete all duties required to maintain the schedule on the specified spray booth. These tasks occur early in a morning shift before the Laminators arrive and continue through the morning.

  • Wearing specialized PPE with fresh air breathers while applying material
  • Must be able to prime, start-up, operate and shut down gel coat & catalyst pumps to support daily
  • Responsible for documentation (ISPCS) for each part
  • Must have a good understanding of gel coat defects and associated root causes
  • Must be able to train new Associates in that specific booth
  • Other duties may be assigned.
    • Maintaining gel booth coverings & filters
    • Hose man assisting gel coaters in 4 booths
    • Fork lift operator
    • Team Leader in training
Qualifications
  • Must be able to complete all technician task in the CMP or small parts spray booths.
  • General knowledge and understanding of required power tools.
  • Must be able to understand and execute top quality.
  • Must be able to pass the strength/stress test and drug/alcohol screening contingent to the hiring process.
  • Job requires standing and working in and around boats/molds throughout the entire day.
  • Must work efficiently and in the safest manner possible, following all safety regulations at all times.
  • Must be able to work at heights above four feet.
  • Must be clean shaven in order to wear a close-fitting respirator or unshaven to wear a supplied air respirator.

Education and/or Experience:  Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment

Employee is exposed to ambient could temperatures for short periods in the winter months and is exposed to ambient heat temperatures in summer months. Very dusty environment. Airborne particulates from cutting, drilling, grinding. Exposure to extremely sharp tooling used for cutting fiberglass.

Air supplied hoods are required due to dust exposure.

Safety glasses are always required.
