The PositionThe Opportunity
The Payroll Tax Analyst provides professional payroll and tax administration services for the North America Shared Services organization. In this role, you will partner with key stakeholders, leadership, and Centers of Excellence to enable data-driven decisions and support organizational strategy execution. You will be responsible for end-to-end payroll tax administration, continuous process and system improvements, and complex operational troubleshooting, while upholding strict confidentiality and employee privacy standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Payroll Tax Administration & Compliance
Execute processing for U.S. payroll tax administration, ensuring strict adherence to state/local payroll regulations and tax laws.
Address inquiries from various taxing jurisdictions, respond to official tax notices, conduct tax audits, and perform risk assessments.
Manage SUI rate updates, tax jurisdiction updates, tax filing amendments, Power of Attorney documentation, and lock-in letters.
Oversee monthly and quarterly tax balancing across corporate entities.
2. Payroll Operations & System Execution
Calculate and process severance repayments and manage employee overpayment recoveries.
3. System Testing, Audit & Continuous Improvement
Gather, document, and analyze business requirements to translate business needs into scalable process and system design solutions.
Participate in system upgrade validation and testing within Workday, including project testing and W-2 system testing.
Apply Lean Six Sigma and root cause analysis methodologies to investigate trends, eliminate process bottlenecks, and optimize service delivery.
Conduct ongoing data audits to maintain high levels of data integrity and system compliance.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Customer Support
Deliver high-quality customer service by providing expert advice and clear solutions for routine and complex tax-related inquiries.
Manage, research, and distribute cases using the ServiceNow case management system (People Portal).
Handle W-2/W-2c requests, year-end adjustments, and tax correction communications.
Develop training materials and deliver training to the user community and HR Shared Services staff regarding new functionalities, processes, and guidelines.
Who You Are
Education: Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. Years of experience may be considered in leiu of degeee.
Experience: Minumum 3 years payroll experience. Experience within an HR Shared Services Center environment, preferably in a complex matrix organization.
HR & Payroll Knowledge: Broad understanding of HR services, policies, programs, and state/federal payroll tax regulations.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis functions).
Problem Solving & Analytics: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to troubleshoot complex issues, conduct root cause analyses, and evaluate business trends.
Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with proven stakeholder management and change management capabilities.
Work Style: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple competing priorities, and navigate complex HR data structures.
Certifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or APA certification. (preferred)
Systems: Experience with U.S. Workday Payroll system and ServiceNow case management. (preferred)
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indiana is $58,200 - $108,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
