Job Description
The Payroll Support Specialist supports the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time,accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This position also supports the Company’s 401K.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate process of payrolltransaction including salaries, benefits, garnishment, taxes, and other deductions.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.• Preparing and analyzing payroll reports for management, including summaries of earnings, deductions,and tax liabilities.
- Assists Payroll Administrator processing payroll, including verifying payroll data, and ensuring accurateand timely payment of employees in the company’s payroll system
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, andchanges to pay rates.
- Assists with garnishments, child supports, and wage audits.
- Assists and serves as back up for setting up all payroll taxes: withholding, unemployment, localwithholding and monitors tax payments and notices with federal, state, and local agencies.
- Maintains payroll reporting for timely and accurate general ledger journal entries.
- Assists with quarterly payroll audits, and quarter close.
- Assists with year end payroll audits, to ensure there are issues with W2 creation. Including but notlimited to reviewing taxes in Applied For state, company addresses, sending notification on employeeaddress change deadline is 12/31, and reviewing W2 to ensure fields are populating as needed.
- Coordinates and completes workers comp audits for all managed entities by providing records anddocumentation to audit agencies including but not limited to payroll data, federal and state tax reports,contractor information, and company P&L or tax returns.
Minimum Qualifications and Education
- Two to three years of related payroll experience required.
- Familiarity with payroll software and systems (UKG Ready preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
