Samaritan Daytop Village provides life-changing services in mental health, addiction recovery, housing, and more to help individuals and families across New York rebuild their lives. We serve over 33,000 clients annually at more than 60 locations throughout the five boroughs, as well as Suffolk, Rockland, Sullivan, Westchester, and Ulster Counties. 

The Payroll Supervisor oversees the payroll function to ensure employees are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with all regulations. This role supervises two payroll coordinators, partners closely with HR, and maintains reliable, up‑to‑date payroll systems and records. It also supports reporting, audits, and continuous improvement of payroll processes. Overall, the position ensures smooth, compliant, and service‑focused payroll operations for the organization. 

Responsibilities
  • Oversee end‑to‑end payroll processing using ADP Lyric and Workforce software, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full regulatory compliance 
  • Supervise and develop two payroll coordinators while managing daily workflow and responding to employee payroll inquiries with strong customer service 
  • Maintain and update payroll systems with accurate wages, benefits, deductions, and employee changes in partnership with HR 
  • Prepare routine payroll reports, reconcile payroll accounts, and audit wage and tax data throughout the year 
  • Ensure compliance with all payroll tax regulations, statutory reporting requirements, and support internal and external audits 
  • Protect the confidentiality of payroll records and stay current on payroll laws and best practices to enhance payroll operations 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field 
  • At least 3 years of payroll experience, preferably with ADP Lyric and Workforce software 
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, payroll compliance, and federal/state/local payroll regulations 
  • Experience directly supervising and developing staff 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with strong data accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide high‑quality customer service 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment 
  • Strong time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines 
  • Ability to handle sensitive payroll information with strict confidentiality 
  • Experience working directly with employee populations; nonprofit or multi‑site experience strongly preferred. 

Additional Information 

This is a full-time exempt role with an annual salary range of $80,000-$95,000 with a full benefits package. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 25 days of paid time off, access to a retirement account with an employer to match, and tuition reimbursement.  

This is a fully in-person office-based role located in Briarwood, Queens with a schedule of Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
