Job description: Payroll Specialist, APAC region

Garrett is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Payroll Specialist for APAC region, to join the team recognized for Leadership, Innovation and Diversity.
About the Role
The successful candidate will perform the payroll activities for APAC region – namely China and Thailand, will be based in Shanghai. The Payroll Specialist under general supervision, performs a variety of complex functions in the preparation, processing, maintenance, verification and reconciliation of employee data, payroll/benefit records and payment. The key component of the role is to pay our employees correctly and on time with the focus on process improvement, consistency and documentation.
Standard responsibilities:
Responsibility for assigned country payrolls, payroll delivery - processing payrolls, including: calculating, bonus payments, starters and leavers, payroll payments
Ensuring that Payroll processes are in line with global directions, legal and taxation standards, procedures, collective tariff agreements, country specific requirements and comply with legislative obligations and internal auditing requirements
Data entry and verification, new employees set up in payroll system
Meeting compliance by verifying data accuracy
Controls net Variances from previous month in sync with our Global payroll team
Prepare a Net to pay file per legal entity to control bank files generated
Manage final payroll settlement based on data received from HR Generalists and payroll data
Reconciliation of Payroll on monthly basis
Support employee queries via our CRM tool and accordingly with our internal SLA
Support various internal and external audits
Cooperate with payroll vendors on seamless and timely delivery
Tax Year End payroll process

Basic Qualifications
• A min of 4+ years’ experience in Payroll, Finance, HR Services
• Experience with working in a remote environment
• Fluent in the Chinese, English language, Other language skill is advantage
• Strong communication skills
• Able to meet tight deadlines
• Strong analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with processing and validating the payroll.
Experience with SAP system
• Used to work in a metrics driven organization
• Experience working with SOX compliance
• Ensure compliance with local legislation, tax and social security laws
• Liaise with key stakeholders for procedural changes
• High sense of controllership
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and changing environment.
