SUMMARY

The Payroll Accountant will process all aspects of international and US payroll (including but not limited to: Australia, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and US) as well as help with compliance and aspects of payroll accounting. The ideal candidate must possess accounting experience, excellent organizational skills as well as the ability to think analytically. The candidate will also have excellent attention to detail and an eye for accuracy in all facets of their performance.  The candidate will have a demonstrated ability to manage oneself, take ownership, and prioritize responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and record cash transactions, breakout all benefits-related bills by department, and complete all core payroll entries in NetSuite ERP
  • Record additional GL accruals for payroll and benefits, severance, PTO, etc.
  • Reconcile payroll balance sheet accounts monthly (benefits, PTO, Payroll Tax, Severance, etc.)
  • Prepare reports and analyses related to payroll expenditures and trends
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Assist in closing out payroll by resolving timecard exceptions and time off approvals
  • Review new hire/terminated/leave/promotion updates in HRIS or other payroll systems to ensure accuracy
  • Process semi-monthly payroll for US & Canada
  • Process monthly payroll for New Zealand and UK
  • Process weekly/fortnightly payroll for Australia
  • Set up new states in payroll system when added for taxation
  • Review and reconcile benefit bills against payroll deductions and report on any anomalies
  • Reconcile and fund 401K/HSA/FSA tax and pension payments
  • Validate compliance in PTO and tax reporting for all regions
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of payroll software and systems
  • Address payroll inquiries from employees and resolve any discrepancies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field strongly preferred
  • 2 years+ accounting experience required
  • Detailed oriented and organized
  • Proficient in Windows, File Explorer, and Microsoft Office
  • Advanced Excel skills (advanced filtering, xlookup, pivot tables)
  • Proven experience working in a team under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Trustworthiness and high level of confidentiality

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with NetSuite ERP
  • US Payroll processing in ADP, Rippling or similar
  • International payroll experience
  • 2 years+ payroll experience
