As a Payroll Specialist, you support with the accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for the USA, as well as the administration of employee benefits. Your attention to detail and administrative expertise will ensure our people are consistently paid correctly, and on-time. You provide valuable resources for our employees through guidance on payroll and benefits related topics.

This role is primarily based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

We are a team of payroll experts, dedicated to ensuring the effective processing of our payroll, taxable benefits and benefit deductions. We are committed to creating an exceptional employee experience by acting as trusted advisors on payroll and benefits calculations. We ensure our people are consistently paid accurately and on-time. 

If you were the Payroll Specialist now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Processing full cycle payroll for both hourly and salaried employees in the USA, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Provide back-up and assistance for the Canadian semi-monthly payroll and hourly payrolls as required
  • Ensuring employees taxable benefits, benefit deductions and 401K plans are accurately set up
  • Preparing payroll and benefits journal entries
  • Preparing year end reports, reconciliations and preparation of W-2s and 1099s
  • Supporting audit requests from internal and external parties
  • Updating and maintaining accurate data in our payroll related systems
  • Collaborating with peers and cross-functional teams, to provide timely, accurate and relevant responses to employee inquiries
  • Ensuring compliances with federal and state regulations
  • Creating reports to ensure appropriate deductions and remittances are submitted
  • Identifying and implementing procedures for streamlining payroll processes
  • Maintaining e-filling and record data
  • Assisting with payroll and benefits process improvements and initiatives
  • Aiding the payroll and benefits team, sharing your knowledge
  • Assisting the Payroll Manager with other projects as assigned

  • Implementing software solutions to automate repetitive tasks and enhance efficiency
  • Assisting with the integration of payroll systems with HRIS platforms to streamline data management and optimize workflow
  • Supporting the implementation of Time and Attendance systems and enhancing Pay Group structures 

Are you our next Payroll Specialist?

  • You have 3+ years experience in a USA payroll and benefits administration environment
  • You have achieved your Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation (PCP), or, Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), or, you are enrolled in the program
  • You have strong organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills
  • You are flexible and able to multi-task
  • You have a customer service mindset
  • You handle sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner
  • You are a team player who collaborates effectively with various teams
  • You have a desire to learn, a passion to try new things and an ability to follow through on commitments
  • You are proactive in identifying to root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
