The Payroll Specialist oversees the organization's payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. Payroll Specialist also assists in data entry accounting tasks as assigned/assists with backlog of other accounting staff.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all payroll preparation, process, and maintaining records.
  • Responsible for all aspects of bi-weekly payroll including ensuring employees’ time is entered, processing direct deposits, and distributing paychecks.
  • Work with supervisors to correct any payment errors.
  • Responsible for employee garnishments.
  • Responsible for benefit accrual, including vacation and sick leave.
  • Assist Human Resources in catching employee data errors in ADP.
  • Ensure ADP has paid all tax deposits.
  • Prepare any payroll reports from outside agencies, as necessary.
  • Prepare all payroll-related G/L Journal Entries.
  • Quarterly and year-end tax reporting, including W-2’s.
  • Responsible for gathering receipts/coding from credit card holders and entering credit card statements into accounting system.
  • Prepare weekly/end of month bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in backlog of accounting tasks from other staff as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Microsoft Office Experience.
  • Must pass a security background check.
  • Previous experience processing payroll. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in tourism.
  • Associates degree and/or three years of accounting experience.
  • Broad technical knowledge of accounting functions and processes.

  • This is a fast-paced and dynamic work environment with a diverse workforce. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays during the tour season.
  • Must adhere to AM Owner Group, & Affiliated Companies, and the United States Coast Guard Consortium Drug & Alcohol Policies & Procedures

Skills Required

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Microsoft Office experience
