About the Role

At TD SYNNEX, payroll accuracy and compliance are foundational to how we support our global workforce. The Payroll Specialist II role will join a regional payroll team who processes payroll for over 10k co-workers across the Americas. We are seeking an experienced-level Payroll Specialist II responsible for executing payroll processes while partnering closely with HR, Finance, and Payroll Operations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.

This role goes beyond transaction processing. As a Payroll Specialist II, you will apply strong payroll practice knowledge to interpret policies, resolve non-routine issues, support audits, and contribute to payroll process standardization. You will serve as a key liaison between local HR and centralized payroll operations, translating business needs into scalable and compliant payroll solutions.

 

What You’ll Do

You will perform core payroll processing responsibilities while exercising independent judgment, analytical thinking, and a high degree of accuracy. Your work will directly impact employee trust, financial integrity, and regulatory compliance.

Core Payroll & Compliance Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain payroll transactions in a high/rapid growth business model.  Supporting up to 4,000 co-workers.

  • Execute and reconcile payrolls ensuring end-to-end accuracy.

  • Apply strong working knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations including states with final paycheck deadlines to ensure timely and compliant payroll processing.

  • Review, research, and resolve non-routine payroll discrepancies, escalations, and employee inquiries with minimal supervision.

  • Process off-cycle payrolls, final pay, payroll corrections, and on-demand checks in compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local regulations.

Audit, Risk & Data Integrity

  • Audit and review timekeeping and payroll data to ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and SOX requirements.

  • Support internal and external audits (including SOX and third-party audits such as EY) by providing documentation, analysis, and explanations.

  • Ensure confidentiality, data integrity, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Collaboration, Communication & Process Improvement

  • Serve as a key payroll contact, effectively communicating payroll impacts, timelines, and resolution paths.

  • Translate business or HR requirements into payroll process improvements, standardization, or system enhancements.

  • Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, compliance, and scalability.

What We’re Looking For

 

Experience & Education

  • 2+ years of payroll experience required, with demonstrated ownership of payroll processes.

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) strongly preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with multi-jurisdiction payroll required.

    Demonstrated ability to independently process complex, multi-jurisdiction payrolls with consistent accuracy, including strong working knowledge of U.S. payroll practices payroll requirements. Applies statutory, tax, and regulatory rules correctly to non-routine scenarios and resolves issues without reliance on step-by-step guidance.

  • Accuracy, Attention to Detail & Data Integrity:
    Consistently delivers precise, error-free payroll results in high-volume, deadline-driven environments. Demonstrates strong attention to detail when auditing payroll data, reconciling earnings and deductions, and maintaining employee records, ensuring data integrity and employee trust.

  • Systems & Technical Proficiency:
    Intermediate proficiency with payroll, HRIS, and timekeeping systems (Workday), including importing, reconciling, validating, and analyzing data across multiple platforms. Quickly adapts to new tools and workflows while maintaining compliance and efficiency.

  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Capability:
    Analyzes payroll discrepancies, variances, and trends to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Exercises sound judgment when addressing complex payroll issues, balancing compliance, policy, and business needs.

  • Accounting, Reconciliation & Controls Awareness:
    Understands payroll controls and SOX requirements, proactively identifying risks, gaps, or inefficiencies during processing and reconciliation.

  • Audit Support & Risk Management:
    Effectively supports internal and external audits by preparing documentation, explaining payroll transactions, and responding to auditor inquiries. Maintains a strong control mindset and ensures payroll practices align with internal policies and regulatory expectations.

  • Communication & Stakeholder Partnership:
    Communicates payroll information clearly and professionally with employees, HR partners, and Finance, translating technical payroll matters into understandable business context. Serves as a reliable liaison between local HR leadership and centralized payroll operations to ensure alignment and timely resolution.

  • Process Improvement & Standardization Mindset:
    Identifies recurring issues, inefficiencies, or inconsistencies in payroll processes and contributes ideas for process improvements or standardization. Translates business or HR requirements into scalable, compliant payroll solutions that support operational excellence.

  • Independence, Organization & Professionalism:
    Works independently with minimal supervision, effectively prioritizing workload to meet strict payroll deadlines. Handles confidential and sensitive information with discretion, professionalism, and adherence to ethical standards.

  • Hybrid work model: 3 days in office and 2 days remote
