The Payroll Senior Analyst will be responsible for the accurate and timely management and processing of payroll for employees in both the United States and Canada. This key role ensures compliance with labor and tax regulations in both countries, as well as adherence to internal company policies. The ideal candidate will be a highly analytical and responsible individual with solid payroll experience and advanced proficiency in Excel and English.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule for employees in the United States and Canada, ensuring compliance with all federal, state/provincial, and local laws.
- Manage and verify payroll data entry, including hours worked, salaries, bonuses, deductions, and benefits.
- Calculate and process payroll taxes, withholdings, and social security contributions for both jurisdictions.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll-related accounting reports.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting teams to ensure data accuracy and information integration.
- Investigate and resolve employee payroll-related inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations in the United States and Canada to ensure continuous compliance.
- Participate in payroll process improvement projects and the implementation of new tools or systems.
- Generate ad-hoc and recurring payroll reports for management and internal/external audits.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in payroll processing roles, preferably with multi-state/provincial or multi-country payroll experience (United States and Canada).
- Education: University degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
- Language Skills: Advanced proficiency (written and spoken) in English is essential.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex functions, basic macros).
- Familiarity with payroll management systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, UKG, SAP) is an advantage.
- Personal Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Analytical ability to solve complex problems and detect inconsistencies.
- Strong sense of responsibility and professional ethics.
- Organizational and time management skills to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
