Payroll Manager
90% Remote in Sacramento Region. Must be located in the Sacramento region to be considered.
Required to work in our Downtown Sacramento office one day per week.
Preference will be given to candidates with Workday payroll experience.

What You’ll Do
The Payroll Manager provides leadership and advanced knowledge for all areas relating to public sector and educational payroll duties. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payment of FoundationCCC (FCCC) and Career Catalyst (CarCat) employees, maintaining payroll records, and processing payroll taxes. Other key duties include interfacing with HR, the CarCat team, and executive management on payroll items, managing interactions with and reports/payments to the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and TIAA (FCCC’s voluntary retirement services provided). This role provides guidance and assistance in the payroll operations, such as setting up pay schedules, workers comp rate, off-cycle payroll run, and other related items.
- Extensive experience managing payroll using Workday HCM (Human Capital Management), including payroll configuration, regression testing, and a deep understanding of how payroll integrates with Workday Financials (ERP). Additionally, serve as the key finance employee for managing payroll system enhancements and reporting.
- Build and cultivate positive relationships internally and externally where appropriate, act as organizational brand ambassador as needed, and provide business development support and input where there is opportunity.
- Manages and supervise Payroll staff. Responsible for training, development, work assignments, and performance evaluations. Expected to act as a role model and mentor to staff.
Attributes for Success
- Minimum of five (5) + years of related work experience in payroll management, and minimum of five (5) + years of progressive experience in managing program/system implementation or project management.
- Minimum of two (2) + years of experience in an education or non-profit environment preferred.
- Understanding of accounting principles and ability to coordinate well with other Finance staff.

Budgeted Annual Salary Pay Range:
$90,000.00 - $110,000.00Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.
