Steer the overall payroll function management and processes. Manage a team of payroll analysts through leadership and advice, rather than through a direct supervisory role. Monitor the labor cost process through the budget definition, the monthly control, and the variation analysis. Provide recommendations to corporate and regional management. Monitor the proper application of law and company agreements in the field of pay and work contracts. Cooperate with the IT and other administration functions to update the payroll systems in use and to recommend modifications to standard procedures. Create liaisons with labor legal authorities. Act as a counselor to employees in issues related to nonstandard salary and deduction. This is the second level of supervision with responsibility for a payroll function for an organization with at least 1,000 employees.

Job Description

Ensure the implementation of payroll corporate policies, procedures, and processes, as well as of payroll compliance with legal and company standards. Steer the overall payroll function management and processes. Provide recommendations to corporate and regional management. Monitor the proper application of law and company agreements.  Cooperate with the IT and other administration functions to update the payroll systems in use and to recommend modifications to standard procedures. Resolve escalated issues and problems.  Provide excellent customer service, professionalism, and efficient support to staff and associates throughout the firm.

Responsibilities
• Manage the processing and financial reconciliation of a complex payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all regular and one-off payments.

• Ensure all payments fall within regulatory and firm compliance.
• Identify and support the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to build their professional capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
• Evaluate the capabilities of staff within the department to identify gaps and prioritize development activities.
• Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.

• Prepare and implement written procedures and job documentation processes.

• Oversee the distribution of payroll via direct deposit and paychecks.

• Interpret and apply organizational policies and procedures.

• Promote use of available technology to streamline processes, improving both efficiency and accuracy.

• Ensure strict confidentiality is maintained at all times.

• Maintain effective working relationships with key business areas to ensure coordination on regular business activity as well as proposed changes and implementations.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related discipline and a minimum of five (5) year’s experience in payroll management or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.

• Multi-state, multi-entity payroll/tax experience.

• Experience with multi-faceted compensation schedule including salaried and commissioned associates.

• Knowledge of Workday Payroll is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

• SIE required providing that an exemption of grandfathering cannot be applied, or ability to obtain within 90 days.

• Series 99, or ability to obtain within 90 days.

• CPP Preferred.

Work Experience

General Experience – 10 to 15 years, Manager Experience - 6 to 10 years

Certifications

Securities Industry Essentials Exam (SIE) - Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA)
