Job Description :

Under the supervision of the Payroll Director, you will participate in the preparation and production of payroll for Cogeco Connexion employees. In collaboration with the team, you will ensure that employees are paid on time and accurately.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare payroll for more than 3,000 employees in Canada.
  • Produce and verify employee payroll records.
  • Prepare payroll entries for the accounting system.
  • Prepare government remittances and those for various stakeholders (Sunlife, FTQ, United Way, Solium, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Revenu Québec, Maintenance Enforcement Program).
  • Prepare and verify various reports, such as government remittance reports, contributions to Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs), and pension funds.
  • Serve as a resource person for employees and managers regarding payroll and benefits-related questions.
  • Collaborate positively with other departments on employee payroll matters.
  • Actively participate in documenting and improving payroll processes.
  • Perform any other related tasks as assigned, based on current priorities.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

  • Completed a College Diploma (DEC) in administration or accounting.
  • Hold or be in the process of obtaining the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation from the Canadian Payroll Association.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of three years of experience in similar roles.
  • Experience with payroll in a unionized environment.
  • Strong knowledge of both French and English, both spoken and written.
  • General knowledge of the payroll process.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office and Google Suite software.
  • Strong team spirit.
  • Excellent sense of organization, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
  • Open to change and eager to learn new skills.
