We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll & Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position is responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll while supporting accounting, reporting, and administrative functions across the organization.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys payroll, accounting, problem-solving, and working collaboratively with Finance and Human Resources.

Pay & Schedule

Pay: $30.00–$35.00/hour, based on experience
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
Work Arrangement: Hybrid

What You’ll Do
  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time

  • Review employee timecards and verify required approvals

  • Audit payroll documentation and correct discrepancies

  • Partner with Human Resources to verify new hires, terminations, transfers, pay changes, and other employee updates

  • Process special and off-cycle payrolls as needed

  • Research and resolve payroll questions related to PTO, direct deposit, garnishments, retroactive pay, tax withholding, workers’ compensation, and paycheck discrepancies

  • Maintain and audit payroll records, year-to-date totals, hours worked, and deductions

  • Complete payroll reporting and regulatory filings, including CMS reporting for skilled nursing

  • Maintain organized payroll records in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements

  • Support financial, 403(b), and workers’ compensation audits

  • Assist with financial data entry, reporting, and cost reports

  • Respond to employee and manager payroll questions in a timely and professional manner

  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and payroll information

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting

  • Minimum of two years of computerized payroll processing experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information

Preferred

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation

  • Payroll experience within healthcare or senior living

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer

  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with critical payroll and accounting deadlines
