As a Payroll & Compliance Specialist at Squarespace, you will manage payroll for over 1,800 global employees, ensuring timely processing, reconciliation, and compliance with payroll regulations. You will work with various payroll systems, perform audits, and assist with special transactions while collaborating with the Finance and People Operations teams.

Squarespace is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join the Payroll function of our growing company. You will work on our Finance team and partner with People Operations and Legal. The Finance Team builds compliant processes that ensure seamless support of our growing organization. As the next member of our team, your work will support this through the preparation, distribution, and reporting of our payroll.

You can work remotely in Ireland or hybrid from our Dublin office. You will report to the Head of Global Payroll & Compliance.

You'll Get To…

  • Provide accurate and timely payroll processing for a 1,800+ growing global workforce located in the US, Ireland, Australia, UK, Portugal and the Netherlands
  • Manage and format complex excel/Google spreadsheets for upload into multiple payroll systems.
  • Process payroll checklists, audits and reconciliations and resolve all discrepancies before submission of final payroll
  • Facilitate processing of special transactions such as off cycle payments, equity, retroactive pay, garnishments, and other statutory deductions
  • Reconcile quarterly and annual reports to ensure accurate entry of all compensation transactions
  • Help audit employee records in HRIS Workday & payroll systems, in partnership with People and Finance teams, to ensure they are accurate and complete
  • Answer employee inquiries
  • Assist in 401(k) audits, balancing and funding
  • Coordinate with Accounting team to provide pay period and month end close activities and requests
  • Partner with Payroll Manager and supporting departments to help with opportunities to test and automate current processes that promote efficiency and streamlining payroll processes
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned or as responsibilities dictate

Who We're Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years experience processing end-to-end payroll at a small to mid sized global organization
  • Experience in US federal, state, and local labor laws, payroll tax requirements, payroll regulations and industry changes that affect payroll operations
  • Global payroll processing experience and taxation knowledge preferably in Ireland and Australia.
  • Experience with payroll systems preferably ADP WorkforceNow for US and international platform Cloudpay
  • Experience utilizing Workday HCM for timekeeping and reporting
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency and ability to work with large datasets including pivot tables, vlookup and other advanced functions
  • Capability to handle confidential information in a professional and secure manner
  • An understanding of payroll practices, legislation and regulation
  • Experience working in global, multi-state companies
  • Certified Payroll Professional certification (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll certification FPC
