We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Manager to lead the delivery of payroll, pensions and benefits administration. Working closely with a managed payroll provider, you will ensure payroll operations are accurate, compliant and efficient, while driving continuous improvement across payroll and reward processes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end delivery of monthly UK payroll and benefits administration, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
Manage the relationship with the third-party payroll provider, ensuring service quality, compliance and operational excellence
Perform detailed payroll validation checks including statutory payments, maternity pay, National Minimum Wage and payroll reconciliations
Ensure all payroll controls, governance processes and audit documentation are completed accurately and on schedule
Oversee payroll processing activities including new starters, leavers, contractual changes, terminations and benefits administration
Manage complex payroll and benefits queries with professionalism, discretion and a strong customer-focused approach
Administer pension schemes and auto-enrolment processes, ensuring compliance and effective employee communication
Partner closely with Finance to support payroll accounting activities, journals, reconciliations and reporting requirements
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across payroll, pensions and reward processes to enhance efficiency, compliance and employee experience

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

CIPP qualification (or equivalent payroll experience) with strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory compliance
Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll within a high-volume and complex organisation
Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail, including payroll validation and reporting
Sound understanding of pensions, salary sacrifice schemes and employee benefits administration
Experience working with HR/payroll systems such as HiBob or similar platforms
Ability to identify process improvements and implement operational efficiencies across payroll activities
Confident leadership and coaching capability with experience developing team knowledge and performance
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information professionally and confidentially
