Job Purpose

The Payroll & Benefits Administrator is responsible for the administration and execution of employee time and attendance, leave of absence programs, and benefits support processes. This role ensures accurate tracking, timely communication, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

This position partners closely with the Payroll & Benefits Manager and HRIS Administrator to support payroll readiness, while maintaining primary ownership of timekeeping accuracy, leave tracking, and case management processes.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Administer and maintain employee time and attendance systems, ensuring accuracy of timekeeping, schedules, and attendance records
  • Monitor and enforce attendance and timekeeping policies, including follow-up with managers and employees on discrepancies
  • Track and manage employee leave of absence programs, including FMLA, ADA, state leave programs, and company-specific leave policies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to timekeeping, attendance, leave, and benefits
  • Support benefits administration processes, including enrollments, changes, and employee education
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records within HRIS and related systems
  • Partner with Payroll & Benefits Manager to ensure time and attendance data is accurate and payroll-ready
  • Assist with payroll preparation activities by auditing time data and identifying discrepancies prior to payroll processing
  • Collaborate with HRIS Administrator to ensure system accuracy, reporting capability, and process improvements related to time, leave, and benefits tracking
  • Coordinate with external vendors (benefits providers, leave administrators) to ensure timely processing and issue resolution
  • Monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to leave, timekeeping, and benefits
  • Support open enrollment and benefits-related communication initiatives
  • Partner with Talent Operations, Business Partners, and managers to ensure consistent application of policies related to attendance, leave, and employee support

Other Functions

  • Assist with reporting and analysis related to timekeeping, leave of absences, and benefits metrics
  • Support audits related to compliance, benefits, and leave administration
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing activities as needed (under direction of Payroll & Benefits Manager)
  • Assist with system updates, testing, and process improvement initiatives in partnership with HRIS
  • Support cross-functional Talent Operations initiatives as needed
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Skills and Abilities

Required

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in time and attendance data
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and processes simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of timekeeping systems, leave administration, and benefits processes
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies consistently
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to guide employees and managers through processes
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and compliance

Preferred

  • Experience with HRIS and timekeeping systems (e.g., Paycom or similar platforms)
  • Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and state leave laws
  • Experience supporting payroll preparation or auditing time data

Work Experience Requirements

Required

  • 2+ years of experience in HR administration, timekeeping, leave management, or benefits administration

Preferred

  • Experience managing leave programs (FMLA, ADA)
  • Experience supporting time and attendance processes in a mid-to-large organization

Skills Required

  • 2+ years of experience in HR administration, timekeeping, leave management, or benefits administration
  • Experience with HRIS and timekeeping systems (e.g., Paycom or similar platforms)
