Key Job Responsibilities
Essential Function
Assists in the processing of employee payroll by preparing, documenting and disbursing computer and manual payroll checks, payroll taxes, deductions, payroll adjustments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Reviews payroll data for consistency and accuracy making adjustments as required. Balances reported hours, system generated hours and adjustment cards. Runs reports to verify data; makes data entry changes as needed.
Calculates overtime, differentials, tax deductions and other special adjustments and rates.
Answers inquiries, provides assistance and communicates effectively regarding payroll information and related policies and procedures. Resolves problems and paycheck errors.
Shares responsibility in processing bi-weekly payroll. Provides coverage for relief and absences as required.
Prepares and maintains required reports, records and files such as tax deposits, W-2's, and vendor payments for administrative and compliance purposes. Utilizes computer to enter and format data, generate statistics, computations, tables, or charts.
Verifies payroll information requested by various external agencies.
Attends Court hearings involving summons of employees' payroll records.
Sorts and distributes mail for payroll area.
Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner. Reports malfunction of equipment to supervisor.
Maintains confidentiality of all employee and payroll information.
Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
Handles all special projects and performs other duties as required.
