As a key member of Western Union’s Payroll team based in Buenos Aires (CABA), Argentina, this role plays a critical part in delivering accurate and timely payroll operations, with a primary focus on Mexico payroll and secondary support for Peru payroll. The position is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and driving process standardization and improvements across payroll activities. This role acts as a central point of coordination between internal stakeholders and external vendors, supporting regional payroll efficiency and enhancing employee experience.
Role Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll for Mexico in-house using payroll systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Support Peru payroll operations by collecting, validating, and consolidating payroll inputs for external vendor processing
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements across assigned countries
- Validate payroll data including earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits prior to processing
- Perform payroll reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation in line with audit and compliance standards
- Act as a key point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, ensuring timely resolution
- Drive process improvements, standardization, and operational efficiency across payroll activities
- Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and external providers to ensure alignment, data accuracy, and timely delivery
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, HR, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- 4+ years of payroll experience with strong hands-on, in-house Mexico payroll processing (mandatory)
- Solid knowledge of Mexico payroll regulations, compliance, controls, and audit processes
- Experience supporting multi-country / LATAM payroll operations (Peru is a plus)
- Proven experience in end-to-end payroll operations, including data validation, reconciliations, issue resolution, reporting, and ability to manage multiple deadlines with high accuracy and ownership
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external vendors (HR, Accounting, Shared Services)
- Familiarity with OpenHR (preferred), Workday, and HRIS/payroll systems, including exposure to Intermex population
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement mindset, with excellent communication skills and advanced English proficiency (written and verbal)
- Flexibility to collaborate across LATAM time zones (up to 3-hour difference)
