Global Payroll as part of HR is accountable for accurate, compliant pay and reporting across CBA’s Australia, India & international payrolls, and for strengthening controls and service delivery. The function sets clear priorities, makes risk-based decisions and partners with HR and change teams to simplify processes, improve self-service and introduce automation where it reduces effort and errors.

Global Payroll – pay our people accurately to support their financial wellbeing. This role is part of the Global Payroll Team and operates within an outsourced payroll model. The team, based in London and New York, consists of the Payroll Lead US, UK & NV and two Payroll Managers.

This role reports to the Payroll Lead – US, UK & NV and works closely with the Payroll Managers, HR teams, Finance teams, and the external payroll provider.

Do work that matters:

  • Coordinate end-to-end payroll activities across each pay cycle, ensuring accurate and timely submission of payroll data to the outsourced payroll provider.
  • Review payroll outputs, reports and payslips, supporting the investigation and resolution of payroll queries and discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure payroll-related employee data is updated and communicated correctly.
  • Administer employee benefits and pension schemes, including enrolments, opt-outs, contribution changes and liaison with external providers.
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee payroll, pension and benefits queries, providing clear and professional support.
  • Perform payroll checks, reconciliations and variance analysis to support payroll accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure payroll processes comply with UK legislation, GDPR, internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, supporting process optimisation, system enhancements and the reduction of manual administration.

We are interested in hearing from you if you have:

  • 1-3 years experience in payroll or benefits administration; previous experience in Financial services or Banking will be highly regarded.
  • Sound understanding of payroll principles, including PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and employee benefits.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage highly confidential information accurately and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across HR, Finance, employees and external providers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with confidence working with payroll data, reports and spreadsheets.
  • Proactive, collaborative and customer-focused approach, with a willingness to learn, take initiative and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of risk management and compliance requirements, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and control.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, currently or with an interest in pursuing CIPP or further payroll qualifications is desirable.

Skills Required
