Who are we looking for?    

Our team is looking for an experienced Senior Bilingual Payroll Administrator to join us processing payroll and ensuring compliance for our Canadian division.  The role will be based in our Waterloo office.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: 

  • Import, balance, and transmit biweekly payroll for 1000+ multi-province employees. Strong knowledge of Quebec payroll legislation, reconciliations, and statutory obligations, with the ability to interpret and apply requirements effectively. 
  • Administer end-to-end payroll transactions and employee records, including processing new hires, terminations, status changes, leaves of absence, compensation updates, RRSP/TFSA contributions, banking changes, and preparing and submitting Records of Employment (ROEs). 
  • Support accurate and compliant payroll processing, including reviewing employee timesheets, calculating overtime and statutory holiday pay in accordance with applicable provincial legislation, and entering, reconciling, and importing employee expenses. 
  • Providing trusted advice and guidance to stakeholders, exercising independent judgment, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Actively participate in payroll system enhancements, testing activities, and future payroll-related projects. 
  • Responding to employee and stakeholder payroll inquiries professionally, providing clear guidance and resolving issues within established service standards. 
  • Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and service delivery while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance standards. 
  • Taking ownership of the quality, accuracy, and security of assigned work, escalating complex or unusual matters as appropriate 

  

What you will bring to the Team 

  • Demonstrated experience processing payroll for more than 1,000 employees. 
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Payroll in a complex, high-volume, multi-provincial environment. 
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, taxation, employment law, and employment standards. 
  • Completion of PCP designation is an asset 
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and prioritization 
  • Ability to solve problems independently and collaboratively 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English & French.  
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, Power Query, and data analysis. 
  • Experience with ADP GlobalView, SAP SuccessFactors, or other integrated payroll and human resources management systems. 
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards, CNESST, and general HR policies. 
  • Experience supporting process improvement initiatives, system implementations, or transformation projects is considered an asset.

The salary range for this position is $30.65 - $51.08. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. Skills Required

  • Experience processing payroll for more than 1,000 employees
  • At least 5 years of payroll experience in a complex, high-volume, multi-provincial environment
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, taxation, employment law, and employment standards
  • Strong knowledge of Quebec payroll legislation, reconciliations, and statutory obligations
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English and French
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, Power Query, and data analysis
