OverviewIn this role, you will work closely with product managers, clients, and software development teams to define payment solutions, ensure compliance, and enhance our transaction processing capabilities. You will play a critical role in translating business needs into technical requirements while ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.You will also act as a Product Owner within the scrum team, managing the product backlog of requirements, priority and necessary clarification.Responsibilities
Payments & Industry Standards
- Act as the subject matter expert on card payments, with working experience on EMV and Card Not Present (Ecommerce) projects.
- Provide expertise in payment protocols such as ISO 8583, NEXO ISO20022, and proprietary acquirer-specific messaging formats.
- Understanding the transaction lifecycle across issuers, acquirers, processors, and merchants.
- Familiarity with alternative payment options (e.g., digital wallets, BNPL etc.)
- Familiarity with Fuel Fleet Cards & Loyalty Cards desired.
- Work closely with scheme rules (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, etc.), ensuring compliance with schemes such as EMV and PSD2/SCA regulations, PCI.
Technical & API Integration
- Collaborate with development teams to design and document payment API specifications, ensuring seamless integration with third-party providers.
- Define functional and non-functional requirements for payment processing applications, including authentication, authorization, and settlement flows.
- Document user stories and requirements, process flows, UI and UX mockups
- Work with tokenization, encryption, and security standards (PCI-DSS, 3DS, HSM, etc.) to ensure secure transactions.
Product & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with product managers to shape the payments roadmap and define requirements based on business needs and market trends.
- Act as a liaison between clients, acquirers, and payment processors, understanding their needs and providing technical guidance.
- Work within an Agile/Scrum environment, contributing to sprint planning, managing backlog refinement, and user story definition.
- Take a lead role in showcasing functionality which is being developed to stakeholders, seeking early feedback
- Collaborate with other Business Analysts and colleagues, providing training and understanding of the payments industry and TNS services.
Experience/Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in the payments industry.
- Experience working with protocols such as ISO 8583, NEXO, EMV, and alternative payment methods.
- Experience working with acquirers, PSPs, and payment processors.
- Hands-on experience with payment APIs, RESTful web services, and JSON/XML messaging.
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI-DSS, PSD2, SCA).
- Ability to write clear BRDs, functional specifications, and API documentation.
- Manage and maintain the product backlog, working as a product owner within a scrum team.
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
