Payment Specialist
$20.59 - $25.53 per hour
Job Level: Individual Contributor
What You Will Be Doing:
Perform all duties associated with accurate and timely processing of payments and resolution of payment inquiries received by Shelter Insurance Companies via electronic methods and/or manual payments. Process cash receipts of premiums, investments, recoveries, accounts receivable and miscellaneous cash items for all Shelter Insurance Companies. Communicate with employees, agents, policyholders and financial institutions. Investigate misapplied premium and payments, engaging other departments as needed to resolve. Process returned payments and maintain related records. Create wires and ACH transactions. Coordinate all facets and duties associated with payment application and payment research functions.
What We're Looking For:
- General educational background at the high school level emphasizing courses in business, math and accounting; Associates degree preferred.
- General office experience.
- Visual acuity and analytical skills for research, reconciliation and problem solving.
- Knowledge of IMS mainframe and basic computer skills, such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Knowledge of EFT, wire transmission and credit card transactions.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet daily deadlines.
- Problem-Solving abilities, organized and high attention to detail.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Please remember that this range is the starting base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position.
