SUMMARY
Payment Services Representative I is the introductory role within the Payment Services operations area of the credit union. This role will support frontline staff and contribute to the completion of daily work associated with the Payment Service Department, specifically: inclearing, ACH, remote deposit channels and incoming wire posting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Handling general inquires via phone/voicemail, email and Skype
  • Support frontline and Security department with research and resolution
  • Review/processing of errors and exceptions for Inclearing and ACH transactions
  • Make pay and no pay decisions
  • Review and handle returns
  • Reconcile processing totals
  • Manage stop payment processes
  • Prepare affidavits for lost/stolen Cashiers’ Checks
  • Process adjustments and disputes
  • Assist the Accounting Department with reconcilement
  • Post incoming wires received
  • Complete reconcilement, adjustments and disputes
  • Assess transactional fees as outlined by the credit union’s Truth in Savings Fee Schedule
  • Provide data for management reports on a one-off or ongoing basis
  • Comply with departmental/credit union policies and procedures with specific focus on OFAC and Reg CC Review check images submitted through remote channels and approve deposits within credit union guidelines; place holds and facilitate returns on submitted items as necessary
  • Complete special projects and any other duties assigned by management
  • This role must be willing and able be incorporated in to the department’s business continuity and disaster recovery plan as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS  

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE including Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of similar or related experience with credit union/banking

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must be able to work amicably with credit union members and staff.
  • Able to contribute to the greater whole in a team environment
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and various projects in given time frame.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. All employees must be able to communicate face to face or through technology with or without reasonable accommodation. Employee will be in an office environment (well-lighted, heated, and air-conditioned) typically stationed at a desk or table. Employee will be asked to sit and stand for various increments of time, and to lift/push up 10 lbs. Clerical office duties on various forms of technology are required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.

All positions that have lending responsibilities must comply with all requirements under the SAFE ACT, as well as the Credit Union’s policies and procedures related to the SAFE ACT. This includes an obligation on the employee’s part to ensure that NMLA registration pertaining to the SAFE ACT is kept current. The employee must notify the Credit Union within 30 days of any changes that need to be reflected on the NMLS registry.

Skills Required

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
